If you haven’t read this sci-fi masterpiece, fly to the nearest bookstore and buy it. If you won’t be won over so easily, let me tell you that this is a work of art. A sensitive young genius is sent to a school in space to be trained to be a general in the war against the alien ”buggers”, makes friends and enemies and falls deep into despair as he becomes the top student while his brother Peter and sister, Valentine, plot to take over the world. Ender is brought to the asteroid Eros to complete his training while he starts to break down. The characters are well drawn-out and the plot is amazing. Be sure to pick up the companion, Ender’s Shadow and its sequels. Best suited for an older reader. Review by Daniel age 12.

. Ernie the Easter Hippopotamus: A Comic Adventure for Anytime
Usually kids my age wouldn't look at a picture book, but with "Ernie the Easter Hippopotamus," it's so funny that kids my age might read it to their kid brother or sister, and still have fun for themselves. It's good both for beginning readers and kids who have to be read to by someone else.
The story is a wild one of a hippopotamus who makes brightly colored eggs. He gets in trouble with the other hippos over this, but swims to New Jersey and keeps working, happily letting a rabbit (called the "Easter Bunny") take credit for what he really does! As I said, it's wild, but fun. It also has great African animal pictures, and lots of them. Review by Gail age 10 from Harrisonburg, VA
Night of the Twisters
by Ivy Ruckman (Review by Andrew - 11, VA)
This is a fantastic adventure book I read for a book report. I thought it would be the normal boring book report, but it wasn't. The book takes place in a small town in Grand Island, Nebraska. It starts out being a normal day and taking the first swim of the summer. It does not end that normal though. They look up at the sky and it does not look so good so they rush home. Reports on T.V. start announcing that there are tornado warnings all over that area and they prepare for the twister, but when it comes it becomes a hide and seek from the twister. On top of all that their parents weren't home. So to find out the ending go to your local library and get the book Night of the Twister.

In this book, a cat by the name of Varjak Paw has a problem. He and his family are purebred Mesopotamian Blue cats, but Varjak Paw has the wrong color eyes; they're amber, not green, and is rejected by his family. His only comfort is the stories his grandfather, Elder Paw, tells him. One day, Elder Paw tells Varjak about The Way, a special martial art for cats, and how of all the seven skills of The Way, only three are used today: Slow-Time, Moving Circles, and Shadow Walking. Then a gentleman and his two evil cats move into Varjak's house. Elder Paw then helps Varjak escape, telling him to learn The Way and bring back "a dog" to save them. Now Varjak must venture into an unknown place called the city to bring honor to his family, to learn The Way, and to save his home. But while in the city, can he save himself and his new friends from the mysterious Vanishings that are taking cats all across the city? A beautiful book for all ages!

The name of the book I read is called Ragweed and it written by AVI. A country mouse named Ragweed who is four months old decides to go to the city to explore it. He meets up with a vole that tells him to take the train to the city. When he gets to the city a cat named Silversides attacks him, because he’s mad that all the mice get all the attention. When he escapes a girl mouse named Clutch pulls him into her hiding place, which is an old broken car. Clutch is a mouse with the top of her head painted green and her dad Windshield loves to paint with his tail all the time. Her mom, Foglight, writes poems all the time. Clutch shows Ragweed all around the city. She takes him to her club named the “Cheese Squeeze Club”. Then Silversides and Graybar destroy the club and killed the lead singer of the “B-Flat Tires”. Silversides throws Clutch against the wall and when Silversides tries to kill her, Ragweed grabs Clutch’s skateboard and runs up in front of Silversides and shoves the skateboard in her mouth so she can’t close her mouth or get the skateboard out. Later Ragweed saves Blinkers life when he is going to get on the train to go home. Blinker is the pet mouse of the owner of Silversides and left home to explore the world. Ragweed decides to stay for a while longer and help Clutch make a new club called “Café Independent”. Blinker betrays the other mice by telling Silversides how to get into the new club. Blinker then warns the other mice about the cats coming so he can save their lives. The cats break in and the mice hose them down with water and then the cats ran away and left town. Then Ragweed decides to leave because he thinks Clutch loves Blinker and not him. Clutch and Blinker meet him at the train and tell him the mice decided to name the new club “Club Ragweed”.
